A mobile court in Mirpur upazila on Monday sentenced a stalker to one year’s
imprisonment.
The convict was identified as Makbul Hossain, 33, son of late Shajuddin Mandol, hailing
from Kullapara village in Moheshpur upazila of Jhenidah district.
Sources said Makbul had been sharassing a schoolgirl at Kullapara village on her way to
and from school for long.
Family members later sent the girl to her paternal aunt’s house at Purdahasta village in
Mirpur upazila some days ago, to continue study staying there.
On Monday morning, villagers caught Makbul red handed while he was seen passing
indecent remarks to the girl and handed over him to police.
Later, Azad Jahan, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Mirpur upazila, also executive
magistrate, handed down the jail term to Makbul. -UNB, Kushtia
