Sultan Mansur deceived People by disobeying party of origin

Dhaka, March 08 – BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir thinks that Sultan Muhammad Mansur, who took part in the December 30 parliamentary elections, undermined him by taking oath as an MP bypassing the decision of opposition alliance Jatiya Oikyafront.
“Mansur has undermined him to the people…Joining a parliamentary within elected representatives, he (Mansur) not only undermined him, he also deceived the people,” he said while talking to journalists after a human chain programme in front of Jatiya Press Club yesterday.
Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, a front organization of the opposition BNP, formed the human chain in observance of International Women’s Day.
Opposition alliance Jatiya Oikyafront nominated Suntan Mansur contested the December 30 parliamentary elections with the sheaf of paddy, the poll symbol of the BNP, took oath on Thursday by ignoring the alliance decision of not taking oath and joining parliament.
Mansur, also a former ruling Awami League leader and former vice president of DUCSU, joined the Oikyafront months before the election and got its nomination to contest the poll from Habiganj-2 constituency. He is one of Oikyafront’s eight winning candidates. The seven other lawmakers elect- six from BNP and one from Gana Forum refrained from taking oath.
Asked to pass his comment over Mansur’s oath and joining parliament, Mirza Alamgir said Ganaforum that provided him nomination has already expelled him from the party. “Oikyafront also expelled him from the alliance,” he added.
Replying to a question whether taking oath by Oikyafront leader Mansur would fall any impact on the alliance, he replied in the negative saying that he (Mansur) was not so important person in the forum.
“All the Oikyafront leaders agreed that Sultan Mansur did a bad work and that’s why he was expelled,” he said.
Replying to another question as to whether the BNP was negotiating with the government over freeing party’s ailing chairperson Khaleda Zia he rejected it outright.
“Such thinking is nothing but humor. It is unfortunate that such kind of humor I being spread,” he said.
Over joining parliament, he said the matter no to join parliament by BNP’s lawmakers elect has already been settled.
Earlier, speaking at human chain, Mirza Alamgir said people’s rights would have to be established through holding another general election forcing the government to step down.
