Sylhet city poll campaign gains momentum

With only 7 days left, campaign for the upcoming election of Sylhet
City Corporation (SCC),scheduled to be held on June 15, has gained
momentum that has changed the common scenario of the metropolis in
last only two to three days.
Just after getting election symbol, all the contenders for all posts
of mayor and councilors both general and women reserved seats have
been continuing the campaign from early morning to midnight. Many of
the candidates opened election office at the important points and
intersections. The candidates are passing their busiest days as they
are showing utmost sincerity to reach all the voters physically. They
also using loudspeaker and meeting the voters with leaflets. 18 party
and 14 party central leaders are joining Sylhet city election campain
including AL leader Amir Hossain Amu and Tufael Ahmed, BNP leader Amir
Khusro Mahmud Chowdhury, Dr. Shakhawat Jibon.
Three candidates are vying for mayoral post. They are former mayor
Bodor Uddin Ahmed Kamran (Anaros), Ariful Haque Chowdhury (Television)
and Sala Uddin Rimon (Lock). However, main election fight is believed
to taken place between Kamran and Arif.
According to the officials of Regional Election Office , the centers
where the polling will be held in EVM method are Ward No- 2 for the
first time in the city. We are taking full-length preparation to make
the EVM method polling activities a total success Election Officer
said.
