Tk 15,113cr loan from SCBs by state-owned entities: PM

Different state-owned entities owe Tk 15,113.61 crore to four state-owned commercial banks (SCBs) as outstanding and classified loans, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told Parliament on Wednesday. She said this while responding to a tabled question from BNP MP Nilufar Chowdhury Moni (Women Seat-37) during the PM’s question-answer session.
Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has the highest amount of Tk 6471.70 crore outstanding loan with the SCBs and its total classified amount is Tk 0.14 crore.
The outstanding and classified loans of Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) are Tk 1536.43 crore and 352.31 crore, she said.
Hasina said Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation has Tk 2600.19 crore as outstanding loan while Tk 83.65 crore as classified loan. Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) has Tk 2300.14 crore as outstanding and Tk 5.99 crore as classified loans.
The Food Ministry has Tk 283.03 crore as outstanding loan and its classified loan is Tk 27.36 crore, the premier told the House. (Source: UNB)
