Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Rajshahi seized a touchstone statue
valued at around Taka 73.90 lakh from a village in the district on Monday afternoon,
BGB officials said here today.
A 28-member anti- smuggling taskforce led by commanding officer of 37 BGB Battalion,
Lt Col Nazrul Islam, and Executive Officer Alamgir Kabir conducted a raid at Nandanpur
village under Puthiya Upazila and seized the 73.9- kilogram statue after searching a
secluded place.
According to BGB press release, none could be arrested in this connection.
Another 32-member taskforce led by Executive Magistrate Rowshan Kabir and BGB
Assistant Director Riaz Uddin Ahmed seized huge smuggled goods including 380
kilograms of cumin and 40 pieces of ladies wear after raiding a Dhaka bound Intercity
train at Natore station.
The seized goods were deposited with the local customs authorities, the press release
