Two alleged ‘robbers’ killed in reported ‘gunfight’

Two alleged robbers were killed during a ‘gunfight’ with police at Bhutgari in Panchbibi upazila early Tuesday.
Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Panchbibi Police Station Farid Hossain said being tipped off that a gang of robbers was preparing to commit a robbery in the area, a team of police conducted a drive there in the dead of night.

Sensing the presence of police, the hoodlums opened fire on the law enforcers, prompting them to retaliate that triggered a gun battle, he said.
Two members of the alleged gang were caught in the line of fire and died on the spot. Police recovered the bodies from the spot in the morning.
The law enforcers also recovered two pistols from the scene. Superintendent of police Molla Nazrul Islam confirmed the incident.- UNB
