Two killed in Cox’s Bazar reported ‘gunfight’

Cox’s Bazar, July 19 – Two people were killed in a reported gunfight with a joint team of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) on Marine Drive road in Himchhari area early Thursday. The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Afrozul Haq Tutul, additional superintendent of Cox’s Bazar police, said the joint forces team gave a signal to a white car to stop around 6 am at a check-post set up in the area.
Defying joint force’s signal, the car moved on and at one stage, the alleged criminal opened fire at them, prompting the law enforcers to fire back that triggered a gunfight.
Later, the joint forces rescued two people with bullet injuries and took them to a local hospital where the doctors declared them dead. – UNB
