Two workers have died in an explosion on a ship in the Karnaphuli River in Chattogram’s Shikolbaha on Monday afternoon.The blast occurred when they were welding metal pieces on the oil-carrying ship Desh-1 Karnaphuli Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Abdul Matin said.
The deceased have been identified as ‘Rashed’, 21, from Noakhali and ‘Masum’, 23, from Cumilla.
Three other workers were injured in the blast, the SI said.
The ship’s owner or captain could be reached immediately for comment.
