UN lauds BD’s success in combating natural calamities

UN Under-Secretary General Stephen O’Brien has observed that Bangladesh’s success in combating natural calamities is an example for many countries.

The UN Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs said this at a video press conference organized by UN Headquarters in New York and locally coordinated by UNIC Dhaka. Dhaka, UNB News Agency Reported.

He mentioned that Bangladesh is a climate resilient country.

Journalists from different parts of the world took part in the video press conference through global UN Information Centres which was organized ahead of the World Humanitarian Summit to be held at Istanbul in Turkey on 23-24 May 2016.

About Bangladesh’s participation in the summit the UN Under-Secretary General expressed the hope that Bangladesh government delegation and the civil society organizations would play important role in raising the key humanitarian issues and suggest remedies.

A delegation led by Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya will attend the summit from Bangladesh.
