The World Human Rights Day was observed in the country on Wednesday as elsewhere across the globe.
The UN General Assembly proclaimed December 10 as Human Rights Day in 1950 with a view to bringing to the attention ‘of the peoples of the world’ the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as the common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations.ay The theme of this year’s day was: ‘Human Rights 365’ that encompasses the idea that every day is Human Rights Day.
Various organisations observed the day with elaborate programmes, including discussions, rallies and human chains.
Human Rights International-Bangladesh formed a human chain in front of the Jaitya Press Club in the capital in the morning. – UNB
