The Jhenidah police in three separate drives in different parts of the
district have arrested 10 activists of the Jamaat and Shibir on
Thursday early hours. The law enforcers have seized a toy shutter gun
and some books and leaflets from their possession.
The Jhenidah police super Altaf Hossain said the Jhenidah sadar
police station officer in charge Kazi Jalal Uddin Ahmed along with sub
inspector Shahrier Hossain having a secret information had drove in to
a students’ mess near the number three water Tankpara at Hamdah in
the town on Thursday early hours at around 5-00 am . They arrested
five activists of the Jamaat and Shibir from the mess.
The police men also arrested three activists from the Moheshpur
upazila while two from Harinakundu upazila during the time.
The arrested were hiding to avoid arrest when they were wanted in a
number of cases for their alleged involvement in assaulting the police
men and participating in anti-state activities during the past hartal
days, the SP added.
