Action against Khaleda for May 5 violence: MKA

Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir on Saturday accused opposition leader Khaleda Zia of ordering violence through her call to the people to stand beside Hefajat-e-Islam activists during the Islamist party’s May 5 programme in the capital.

“Hence, legal action will be taken against Khaleda and others, who were responsible for inciting the violence”, he said talking to journalists after attending a civic reception here.

The minister urged the Hefajat activists not to perpetrate repression on people and spoil the country’s resources in the name of religion.

“The government will no longer tolerate such behaviour”, said Alamgir. Chaired by district police super MainulHaque, State Minister for Social Welfare PromodMankin, Hayatur Rahman Khan, MP, and DIG of Dhaka range police SM MahfuzulHaque, among others, spoke at the reception.

Earlier, the minister inaugurated the newly-built bhabans of Phulpur Police Station and a local Fire Service. (Source: UNB)
