Dhaka, March 26 – The Awami League-led 14-party alliance yesterday vowed to root out anti-liberation forces from the soil of Bangla in a bid to keep continue the pace of development under the leadership of prime minister Sheikh Hasina.The ruling alliance leaders made the pledge after paying tributes to the 1971 Liberation War martyrs at the National Memorial at Savar on the occasion of the 48th Independence and National Day.
“Anti-liberation forces are still active against the country. They are hampering the country’s development. So, we will have to be united to root out these forces from the soil of Bangla,” said AL general secretary Obaidul Quader.
He was talking to the newsmen after paying tributes to the 1971 Liberation War heroes at the National Memorial.
Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister said Bangladesh has made significant progress as it attained eligibility for graduation to a developing nation from the status of Least Developed Countries (LDC).
The country recently became eligible to graduate from the UN’s list of least developed countries to the list of developing countries and dreams of one day making the list of developed countries.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu also spoke to the media after paying his respects to the martyrs.
Inu, also the president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), an alliance partner of AL, said that Bangladesh is not out of danger yet as ghost of Pakistan are still active against the country.
He alleged that the BNP had not held any events while many other organisations had commemorated Mass Killing Day on Mar 25. “They do not accept the Father of the Nation, Mass Killing Day or the death toll of 3 million. they are still follow the ideals of Pakistan,” he said.
“Now we have two major challenges before us…The first is to hold the next elections in due time and the second is to prevent militants and the Razakar-patron BNP from coming to power,” he said.
“We will have to go forward further to achieve our desire goal to make Bangladesh a developed country by 2041 by removing anti-liberation forces from the state,” said Bangladesh Workers Party President and Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon.
