Bangla-china ties to get boost once BNP is in power: Fakhrul

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday said the relations between the two countries will get furhter boost if BNP comes to power,” he said while addressing a seminar at Jatiya Press Club in the city.
Addressing a function organised by the Bangladesh-China Friendship Association to mark the 65th founding anniversary of People’s Republic of China Fakhrul said his party gives importance to Chinese assistance for socio-economic development of Bangladesh.The historic relations between Bangladesh and China will never be affected. Fakhrul said poverty alleviation and economic emancipation are the basis of relation of Bangladesh with China. “We give due importance to the relations between the two countries,” he said.
He refereed to the formation of SAARC saying that BNP founder and late President Ziaur Rahman had formed the fora to change the lot of the people in the region.
The BNP leader demanded the release of Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, who is the president of the Bangladesh-China Friendship Association.
Cho Wanking Jhu, charge-de-affairs of China Embassy in Dhaka was present at the function as the special guest.
Presided over by acting president of the organisation Nazmul Huq Nanno, the seminar was also addressed by Prof Mahbubullah, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, Barkat Ullah Bulu and Jalaluddin Ahmed.
