Bullet-hit body of rape accused killed in gunfight recovered

Police on Sunday recovered the bullet-pierced body of Abdur Nur, 25, who was accused of rape of a girl while returning from her workplace from Korean Export Processing Zone (EPZ) under Karnaphuli Upazila in Chittagong.
He was the son of Abdus Sattar of Boirag area under Anawara Upazila. Police said on the information of gunfight in between two robber groups at early morning they rushed to the spot and recovered the bullet-pierced body from a hill of the economic zone.
Dulal Mahmud, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Anwara Police station said, “We have recovered the bullet-pierced body of Abdur Nur from a hill of the economic zone. He might have been killed by his rival group. He was accused in three robbery cases lodged with Anwara Police Station, in addition, the rape case.”
Abdur Nur and his three cohorts on Wednesday night raped a girl age between 14 and 15 and they left her in critical condition at a dark and seclusion area of Kalarmar Digi of Chowmuhuni under Anwara police station. Local people rescued the girl and sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH). She is undergoing treatment at CMCH one stop crisis centre.
She is working in a shoe factory in the EPZ. Every day after the work-hour the girl returns to her home by CNG-run auto-rickshaw. Like every day on Wednesday while he was returning home but when the CNG-run auto-rickshaw reached in a seclusion and dark area the three passengers and the driver raped her. Later the miscreants left the scene leaving her in the area.
On Thursday victim’s elder brother filed a case with Anwara police station accusing for people.
Conducting drive police arrested two rape accused CNG-run Auto-rickshaw driver Mohammad Mamun, 21, and Md Helal Uddin, 30 on Friday. They were produced before the court on Saturday.
Before the court of Chattogram Metropolitan senior judicial magistrate Joyanti Rani the duo gave confessional statement. – Staff Reporter
