A mother was seriously injured when she tried to save her daughter’s
chastity from the hands of some debauched fellows on the night of
Friday.This incident took place in the village Dewatala within Jewdhara Union
Parishad under Morrelganj Upazila in the district. In this connection
a complaint was lodged with Morrelganj PS against one Habibur Rahman,
son of the local UP Chairman and some others on Sunday morning.
It is stated in the complaint that Joyanti Mridha,(15). daughter of
one Jiban Chandra Mridha of village Dewatala was very often harassed
and taunted by some wicked fellows including the son of local UP
Chairman on her way to the school from the residence and vice versa.
On Friday at night some 10/12 miscreants including Habibur Rahm raided
the house of Jiban Chandra Mridha, ransacked it and tried to abduct
his daughter for committing rape on her. Then her mother Kabita Rani
Mridha (35) tried to resist the miscreants. But the miscreants
inflicted severe cut injuries on her person. As a result, she was
fatally injured. On hearing the hue and cry of the inmates of the
house as soon as the neighbouring people rushed to the spot the
miscreants fled away, The in juried mother was admitted to the local
Upazila Health Complex for her treatment.
Aslam Uddin, Officer-in-charge of Morrelganj PS disclosed to the
newsmen that the necessary action would be taken against the accused
persons in time.
