Ex-PDB chairman slaughtered in city

Miscreants slaughtered former chairman of Power Development Board (PDB) Khijir Khan at his Khanka Sharif (gathering place of followers) at Gudaraghat in the city’s Madhya Badda area on Monday evening.
Police recovered the body of Khijir Khan, 66, also a so-called pir, after 8:30pm.

The Khanka Sharif is situated on the 2nd floor of his six-storey house.

Sub-inspector Obaidul, operations officer at Badda Police Station, said some people entered the building in the evening on the pretext of offering Maghrib prayers at the khanka.

Khijir was found slaughtered at the khanka around 8:30pm, said the SI, adding that the reason behind the killing could not be known yet.
