Robbers looted a jewellery shop after creating panic by exploding
bombs in Bazar Para area of the district town on Wednesday night.Witnesses said a gang of robbers numbering 6-7 on a microbus came in
front of the jewellery shop named ‘Khoaja Gini House’ beside the
office of the district police super at about 10:00pm and threw four
crude bombs in front of the shop.
As the bombs went off, people rushed in panic.
The robbers entered the jewellery shop, took its employees hostage at
gunpoint and looted 350 tolas of gold ornaments.
The gang ran away with the booty exploding 4-5 more bombs there.
The shop owner Chanchal alleged that police were late to come to the
spot although he informed them (police) of the matter over phone at
the right time.
Officer-in-charge of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station Rezaul Karim on
Thursday morning said they detained one Rukunuzzaman suspecting him of
the robbery from Begunbari area of Sadar upazila.
