Convener of Blogger and Online Activist Network Imran H Sarker urged all to resist Jamaat-BNP’s hartal.Main opposition BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e- Islami separately announced 72-hour nationwide hartal from Sunday to protest the countrywide ‘mass-killing’ and Sayedee verdict.
Sarker came up with the call while addressing the mass rally at city’s Shahbagh intersection, also known as ‘Projanmo Chattar’ on Friday afternoon.
Urging all, Imran Sarker said, “You will take to the streets so that the supporters of war criminals do not get any space.”
People from all walks of life thronged ‘Projonmo Chattar’ in the afternoon and chanted slogans against Jamaat and Shibir and anti-hartal slogans on the 25th-day of ongoing movement.
On February 28, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 led by ATM Fazle Kabir awarded death penalty to Sayedee for war crimes during the liberation war in 1971.
The protest began on February 5, just after ICT awarded Quader Mollah with life imprisonment.
