Zia Parishad complains of EC’s role in BCC poll

Zia Parishad, a front organisation of main opposition BNP, held human
chain and  rally protesting biasness of EC and administration in BCC
election
The rally was held in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall, during the meeting
of Election Commissioner Muhammad Shahnewaz inside the hall.
The programme was presided by Prof. Mohidul Morshed Lavlu, City
President and addressed by Kabir Murad, central chairman, Adv Akhter
Hossain Mebul, Adv Parvez Akon Biplob, President and Secretary Anwarul
Huq Tarin and others.
The speakers alleged local administration, police and Election
Commission fully biased to the 14-party alliance candidate, city AL
president, and ruling 14-party alliance candidate out going Mayor
Shawkat Hossain Hiron.
The 14-party alliance candidate prepared election set up of police and
administration few days before the schedule announced. Due to this
every day police arresting and harassing BNP-led 18-party alliance
candidate Ahsan Habib Kamal.
AL cadres led by Mamun, brother of 14-party alliance backed Mayor
candidate Hiron, on Monday afternoon beat, injured and tortured
Luthfar Rahman, Monir Shikdar, Nurul Shikdar, election workers of
18-party alliance candidate in  ward -13 and biased  police ignored to
take action.
The residents, voters of wards 11-14, the adjoining areas of the
resident of ruling 14-party alliance backed candidate, now panicked
and supporters of 18-party alliance backed candidate living under
unsecured conditions, they alleged.
Election Commission while snatching banners of 18-party alliance
backed candidate, then remained deaf and dumb against the colourfull
billboards banners of the 14-part alliance Mayor candidate.
EC also not barred their biased candidate out going Mayor from   using
manpower of BCC and BCC approved projects, non-government
organizations, the speakers said.
Election camps of the ruling alliance backed Mayor Candidate opened on
public roads, premises, at educational institutions openly and allowed
by EC, they said.
Participants of the rally demanded unbiased, impartial and neutral
setup of administration and police for conducting a free fair
election.
